The Senior Camogie girls played Kilkishen last Sunday afternoon in Newmarket and won with a full time score of Kilkishen 1-6 Clooney/Quin 0-15. The girls got off to a slow start that allowed Kilkishen to get the opening scores. At half time they were all square with six points each. The girls pulled away from their opposition in the second half and never looked back. On the day scores came from Marie Halpin, Jess O'Neill, Aisling Corbett, Clare Ryan and Deirdre Murphy. This win puts the girls through to a semi final against Newmarket-on-Fergus and this tie will take place on Bank Holiday Monday at 6 pm (a venue has yet to be agreed).  Check the club facebook account for news on the venue (https://www.facebook.com/clooney.quingaa).

Saturday is a another big day in the development of Clare Camogie.  The County Camogie grounds 'Fr. McNamara Park' will play host to Ireland v Scotland ladies shinty game.  The Irish team will be made up of all Clare girls and Clooney-Quin will be represented on the panel by Sheelagh Daffy.  It is a great opportunity to have a girl from our club playing to represent Ireland and we wish Sheelagh the very best of luck.
The underage girls from the club from U6-13 will get to take part in this historic day also.  They will be present at the game in Doora at Fr. McNamara Park(opposite Western Garages on the Quin Rd) and will then be brought to Ennis where the will assemble at the Holy Family School and will march through the town of Ennis as part of the camogie Parade with all clubs in the county taking part.  This will go up O'Connell Street, down Abbey Street and turn at the Queens Hotel for Cusack Park where the parade will end with the girls attending the men's shinty game.
This is a great day for camogie and for the girls to show case their pride in the game and their club, wearing the club colours for the parade.
So come along and support Sheelagh and the Clare girls in the international game at 11am at Fr. McNamara park and watch the parade as the girls make their way through the town and all will have great fun and enjoyment on the day.

The senior camogie girls competed heroically in the first senior final in almost seventy years and did they do themselves and their parish proud. They did not bring the title back to the parish but they played out an almighty battle against Kilmaley last Saturday in Clarecastle. The final whistle saw Kilmaley winning the game by a narrow margin of just two points. Clooney Quin went in at half time five points down but returned in the second half and dominated the scoreboard by bringing the margin back to just one point. Kilmaley's only contribution to the scoreboard in the second half came in the form of a point from a free in injury time and this statistic is testament to the effort put in by our girls to prevent them from playing or scoring. The huge support that travelled to the game to cheer on the girls was immense and by far out numbered the oppositions support. This support no doubt helped and encouraged the players and management throughout the encounter. The final score of the game was Kilmaley 1-8 Clooney - Quin 0-9. Deirdre Murphy received player of the match for her very strong determined performance. Finally a very big thank you, from the management and team, to all those who travelled in big numbers to Clarecastle last Saturday to support the team. The colours you brought and encouragement you gave the players throughout was very much appreciated by all.   Once again, well done girls for a wonderful game!
