The Senior camogie girls competed in the Pan Celtic camogie blitz in Dingle last weekend.  The girls narrowly missed out on a place in the final.  There were three games played on Saturday and the final played on Sunday. Each game was 15 minutes a side and a 5 minute break at half time. Clooney Quin played their first game against Ballygarvan of Cork.  The first score for Clooney Quin was a goal that came from Saidhbhe Corbett .  At half time in this game the score was Ballygarvan 1-1 Clooney Quin 1-1.

In the second half the girls continued on from where they left off and put in a strong performance but the referee was making things very frustrating for the players.  The final score was  Ballygarvin 2-2 Clooney Quin 2-1.

Clooney then went on to play good council of Dublin which was a good physical challenge.  Thankfully the Clooney girls came out on to to claim their first win of the day.

Good Council (Dublin) 1-4 Clooney Quin 1-8

Lastly, it was the girls turn to play another Clare team , Newmarket-on-Fergus.  It was the third game of the day and the girls were tired but came out on top at the final whistle.

Clooney Quin 2-7 Newmarket-on-Fergus 2-3

As a result of not winning the first game we lost out on a place in the final but huge credit is due to the girls for putting three fine performances.  It is not everyday you get to compete with some of the stronger clubs in the country and in doing so should give the senior girls much confidence for the rest of the year.

Well done girls!Kiss
