The panel played two championship games this week. The first was played on Sunday in Shannon against the reigning county champions Kilmaley. At the end of the first half the girls were battling very hard and were winning 1-6 to 0-2. They were playing with a very strong breeze in the first half and it was to Kilmaleys advantage in the second half. Scores were hard to come by for both sides in the second half but it was Kilmaley who picked up their game and scored three goals to ultimately win the game. Kilmaley won by 2 points in the end. It was a very strong performance by the Clooney-Quin girls and they came so close to winning.
The next game was played against Scarriff/Ogonnelloe on Wednesday evening in Kilkishen. Clooney-Quin had to win this game to either make it through to a county semi final or a playoff game. A loss here would mean they are out of the championship. This was a very tight game with both sided very evenly matched. In the end Clooney-Quin won by a single point, the final score 2-10 to 2-09. This was a great result for the girls, it was a tough game but they weathered the storm and are looking forward to their next game, come what may.....
