The Clooney Quin Camogie and ladies football AGM was held on Friday 22nd January in the handball alley. A host of regular faces attended the meeting with a great welcome to some of the young players who attended as well as the attendance of a number of parents of the very young players...............
Reports were given on both sides of the club with the camogie reaping the benefits of an u14A shield victory, u16A shield victory, u18B county championship victory and Senior B county championship victory. Deirdre Murphy, Aisling Hannon, Mary Clune, Jessica O’Neill, Orlaith Duggan, Saidhbhe Corbett all wore the county camogie jersey in the past year while Marie Halpin was named minor club player of the year. The senior team also had a great experience when they travelled to Kilmacud Crokes to take part in the annual mini 7’s competition. On the football side, the club expressed their delight at the number of girls who wore the county jersey this year – Deirdre Murphy was part of the Intermediate team that won the All Ireland, Jessica O’Neill was part of the minor team while Aisling Corbett and Maria Hehir were part of the u14 football teams with Aisling taking the honour of captaining the team. The following were voted in at the AGM: President – Fanny Corbett, Chairperson – Maria Kennedy, Vice Chairman Football – Liam Kitson, Vice Chairman Camogie – Peter Sheehy, Camogie Secretary – Breda Daffy, Football Secretary – TBA, Camogie Assistant Secretary/PRO camogie – Sheelagh Daffy, Treasurer – Dominica Seward, Assistant treasurer – Bernie O’Halloran, PRO football – Jessica O’Neill, Child Protection Officer – Stephanie O’Neill, Camogie County Board Delegate – Mike Duggan, Football County Board delegate – Peter Sheehy and Liam Kitson. Management for the year was discussed and decided upon while the idea of a fundraising committee was also put in place. The club is now gearing up for a medal’s presentation to our under 11, 14, 16 and minor stars on Saturday 30th at 8:30 o clock in Quin School hall while a great night is also promised on the 6th of February when the senior camogie team will receive their senior B county medals along with their male counterparts who will receive their junior A football medals and mini 7 hurling medals.
