Intermediate Hurling
The Intermediate hurlers turned in a stirring performance against Feakle in Killenena yesterday, Sunday 21st and came away with a terrific win, which qualifies them for the County semi-final. The final score was 1-12 to 0-12.
This win was gained on the back of a well-balanced team performance, but Donnacha Murphy must take Pride of Place with his 1-2 from play which put the Clooney lads on the way to victory.
There were excellent perfomances throughout the field, from the goalkeeper and backs who were as miserly as ever, a hard-working midfield, and a forward line who always looked dangerous. Feakle piled on the pressure late-on in an effort to salvage the game, but Tony McMahon popped up and saved the day with a spectacular goal-line clearance in injury time as Feakle thought they had secured the draw. With Clooneys half-forward line exerting enormous pressure on the Feakle backs from start to finish, the match-winning scores were secured from eight different players.
The semi-final is scheduled for the weekend of October 4th/5th.
