the Clubs Third String, few people gave the Clooney/Quin lads any chance of progress from the Group Stages of the Competition. However, the players and Management made light work of this outlook, emerging from the Group Stages to qualify for a Quarter-Final meeting with Bodyke. After a very well contested battle, the boys emerged victorious by 2-11 to 1-9, putting them into the County semi-final. Tubber awaited on the sidelines. Having shown some excellent form in the earlier Rounds, the North Clare side were hot favourites as they took the field against O'B's charges. In a thrilling match played in Killenena, the Clooney/Quin lads triumphed on a 0-17 to 2-8 scoreline. As Finals go, this one against Cratloe was up there with the Best! As the seconds counted down to the Final whistle, Clooney were a point to the good, but disaster struck. A Cratloe goal put the South-East Clare side ahead for the first time in the match. Time was up, and it looked as though the Clooney lads would suffer yet another heart-breaking defeat in a Junior B Final. Enter Aidan Daffy and Paudie Hassett! Aidans long delivery deep into the Cratloe defence was fought for tooth and nail by both defenders and attackers. The ball broke to the Hass, the rest is History! Glory, Glory! What a Year for O'B and his team along with Francis and his Backroom Team. Congrats, Lads. Well Done!!
