Following their five-star performance in the win over Sixmilebridge last week, hopes were high that the Seniors could complete their Clare Cup programme with a win or draw over neighbours Crusheen and take a semi-final spot in the Competition.
However, Crusheen, who had to win to stay in the running, hit the Clooney lads for three goals, winning 3-13 to 0-13, and thus have finished level at the Top of the table.
Newmarket will play Cratloe next week, where a win for the Blues would force a three-way play-off for the two semi-final spots. Should Newmarket fail to secure a win, both Crusheen and Clooney/Quin would qualify directly for the semi-finals.
So, in spite of the defeat to Crusheen, all is not lost for the Clooney/Quin lads.
We await next weeks result with interest!
