It was a case of inches on Sunday evening last as the Senior hurlers took on reigning County Champions, Crusheen in their Round 2 encounter in Cusack Park.  The game turned out to be a game of two halves, with the Clooney/Quin lads on top in the first half but only held a slender two point lead at the break.
On the resumption, the Crusheen lads showed why they are County Champions and played some terrific hurling but the Clooney-Quin lads stayed in contention right to the end. It took a goal-line clearance from the Crusheen lads from preventing an injury-time equalising goal as Crusheen defended a three point lead. The game ended on a 1-14 to 1-11 scoreline in favour of Crusheen.
There is a long break in the Championship until August due to the County teams Munnster and All-Ireland campaigns. In Round 3, Ballyea will provide the opposition.
