The Clooney/Quin Senior Hurlers bowed out of Senior "B" Championship race at the semi-final stage on Saturday last when they went down to Clarecastle.
The side was slow to start when they had the aid of the breeze which allowed the Magpies go in at the break with a commanding 1-9 to 0-7 scoreline.
The 2nd half didn't start too well for the Clooney lads either when Clarecastle struck for a goal, to stretch their lead to 9 points. However, from here, the Clooney/Quin lads rallied and set about reducing the defecit. A Martin Duggan goal and two more Clooney/Quin points reduced the margin to 4 as the lads hit their best form with 15 minutes remaining. Then, a Martin Duggan point was unfortunately waved wide by the Umpire who lost the flight of the high ball. This caused much upset to the Clooney/Quin lads who seemed to lose their composure which allowed the Magpies rally and run out deserving winners at the end on a 2-14 to 1-8 scoreline.
