Clooney-Quin under 12 boys suffered a heart-breaking 1 point defeat to Newmarket-on-Fergus on last Sunday morning in Clooney.....

After getting off to a poor start, during which time Newmarket-on-Fergus scored 2 goals, the lads fought back and scored two great points.
Then thanks to a great goal by captain Ruadhan Dunne, the half-time score ended-up with Newmarket-on-Fergus on 2 goals and 1 point to 1 goal and 2 points for Clooney-Quin.
The second half saw the lads fight tooth and nail for every ball. Douglas Reddan was his usual " rock" at full back while young Conor O'Brien showed while he will be a big star in the future. Dave O'Brien was back to his brilliant best at centre-back. Ruadhan Dunne was revelling in his new role of creative mid-fielder and upfront, Eanna Barry was causing all sorts of problems for the Newmarket-on-Fergus defence.
Eanna's pressure eventually paid off when he scored a great goal and won some vital frees, which enabled Clooney-Quin to build-up a two point lead  -- 2 goals and 4 points to 2 goals and 2 points for Newmarket-on-Fergus.
Then heart-break struck with only a few minutes left , when Newmarket-on-Fergus scrambled a goal and went into a 1 point lead.
However, the lads did not give-up and very unlucky to see a great point effort shave the upright in the last minute of the game.
Well done to the boys for the great display. Next up are Smith O'Briens next Sunday at 12 in Clooney.
