The 2nd annual Abbey Stores U-14 Hurling Tournament will take place in Hennessey Park on this Saturday.
Last year it was John Locke's of Callan (home club of the legendary John Power) that took the honours. The Kilkenny boys are back this weekend to defend their title. They will be joined by Mullinahone who are also paying their second visit to the tournament. Liam Mellows from Galway are 1st time participants this year. So, it is high quality opposition that face our own U-14s.
Proceedings will get underway with a parade through the village at 10am. Hurling activity will commence at 11am in the hurling field. This tournament presents a great opportunity to witness first-hand the different styles of hurling from the four counties. It should also be of great benefit to the hurling development of our own young players.
We greatly appreciate the support we receive from Abbey Stores in promoting this hurling festival.
