After five weeks of "let the ball go", "take your score", "let fly on the ground" and fantastic hurling all around the county and in all types of weather, the Clooney/Quin Minor Club U-13 Hurling Tournaments reach their climax this Saturday.....

24 teams took part in 2008 and these were split into 4 divisions. The top two divisions have been sponsored for nine consecutive years by Mother Hubbards. On Saturday in Clarecastle the Div.2 Final will see Feakle/Killanena attempt to retain the title they won last year when they take on Cratloe at 11.00am.
This will be followed by the meeting of Eire Og and Clarecastle in the Div.1 Final at 12.30pm. The clubs last met in the final in 2003 when The Magpies came out on top. Eire Og will be chasing their first ever win in the Mother Hubbards.
As our tournament got increasingly popular over the years and every club wanted to take part there was a necessity to introduce two more divisions. Our own Pat O'Brien came on board last year to sponsor the 'John O'Brien Trophy' and 'John O'Brien Plate' which, effectively, are Divisions 3 and 4 of the tournament. These competitions are named after Pat's uncle who hurled with both Clooney and Tulla. John lost his life following a serious hurling injury and this is an opportunity to honour a man who made a tremendous contribution to hurling in Clare during his short life both as a player and referee.
The 'John O'Brien Trophy' will be contested this year by O'Callaghan's Mills and Tulla. The match will be in the new O'Callaghan's Mills pitch and will get underway at 11.00am.
Tulla will be the venue for the 'John O'Brien Plate' final with throw-in also at 11.00am. First-time entrants Bodyke will take on The Banner in this one.
