The Under 14 hurlers are going well in the Eire Og Hurling Tournament......
Our U-14 Hurlers are certainly having a busy year. Fresh from taking part in the inaugural 'Abbey Stores Tournament', they are now playing in the Eire Og U-14 Tournament.
Their first match was away to O'Callaghans Mills. This was a fine game of hurling with the home side dominant early on and opening up a 5 point lead. C/Q fought back well and by the 3/4 stage were 4 points to the good. The Mills responded and reclaimed the lead with 5 mins. left. However, 2 late points brought victory to the boys in Green and Red on a scoreline of 2.12 to 2.11.
Newmarket-on-Fergus entered 2 teams in this competition and one of those visited Clooney last week for Round 2. A superb 1st half performance from the home side decided the tie. Clooney/Quin held a commanding lead of 5.2 to 0.2 at half time. They continued to play the better hurling in the 2nd half and ran out comfortable winners on a 6.5 to 0.4 scoreline.
They are now through to the 'A' semi-final and awaiting to discover who their opponents will be from the other group.
