The Under 15 hurlers have qualified for the County Under 15 "B" Final following a hard-fought semi-final victory over Clonlara on a 1-9 to 0-9 scoreline.....

The first objective of this team was to get to a Co. Final, having suffered the agony of an extra-time defeat in last years U-14 Co. semi-final replay to Smith O'Briens.
Last Sunday in Broadford, the boys achieved that goal with a hard fought one goal victory over last year's beaten U-14B finalists, Clonlara.
Daire Kelly was first off the mark with a point from play after 3 mins. Clonlara replied with a like score a minute later before taking a 1 point lead after 7 mins. The next 3 scores were C/Q points - 2 from Peter Duggan and 1 from Johnny Reynolds. Clonlara hit over a free in the 15th minute having missed a couple earlier on. Jason Ryan replied immediately with a point from play and made it 6-3 after  27 mins. The last 2 points of the half were Clonlara's to leave the score 0.6 to 0.5 in our favour at half time.
Clooney/Quin started the brighter in the 2nd period, forcing a '65 in the 1st minute which was duly slotted over the bar by Peter Duggan. 2 points from Clonlara had the teams tied again by the 5th minute.
A goal was always going to be a 'big score' in this game, and thankfully it came to the boys in Green and Red. After great work from Johnny Reynolds and the very impressive Jason Ryan, the ball fell to Conor Clune to fire to the net from close range.
Clonlara replied with a pointed free before Peter added 2 more points to the scoreboard - the first from a free and the 2nd from a beautifully struck line ball.
The East Clare side piled on the pressure in the final 10 mins. In the 29th minute Clonlara pointed to leave just a goal between the teams. Then, with time almost up, Clonlara were awarded a semi-penalty. They went for the equalising goal but Keith Hogan saved and the final whistle blew.
Interesting to note that we had three sets of brothers playing in this match - Hennessys, Clunes and Taylors! What's more, each had one defender and one forward!

Final Score: Clooney/Quin 1.9 Clonlara 0.9

Our Scorers: Peter Duggan 0.5 Conor Clune 1.0
Jason Ryan 0.2 Daire Kelly 0.1
       Johnny Reynolds 0.1
