U-16

The Clooney Quin U-16 Hurlers got their championship campaign off to the best possible start in Inagh on Sunday with a win over Inagh/Kilmanona on a 2-11 to 0.10 scoreline.
East Clare U-16 Hurlers will put their Munster Divisional title on the line this Saturday in Thurles. There, they will play divisional sides from Waterford, Cork and Mid Tipperary for a place in Monday’s semi-final.
Clooney Quin are represented on this year’s panel by Daire Kelly and Keith Hogan. So the best of luck to all the lads and their management team of John Tuohy, Ger Rodgers, Mike Deasy and Terence Fahy.
There will be many quiet households in the parish over the weekend as 35 of our young teenage boys head north. This Friday morning Clooney/Quin U-14 and U-16 squads head off to Ballycastle in Co. Antrim. There, they will be guests of the local McQuillan's GAA Club. Hurling tournaments for both age groups will take place on Saturday and they will return on Sunday. We hope that they enjoy the weekend and many thanks to the adults who are giving up their weekend to travel with the boys.
Ballyea 1.21  Clooney/Quin 4.9
It is of absolutely no consolation whatsoever to Keith, Pa and the team, but, we are all immensely proud of the performance of the lads in this game. All that is ever asked of a team is that they do their best. To a man, they all gave every last ounce of energy, but, ultimately, came up short...... writes Mike Hogan.

The U-16A semi-final v. Ballyea will go ahead this Friday in Clarecastle at 6.15pm. Originally fixed for last Friday, the match was called off late on the day of the game. Apologies to the supporters who did not hear of the cancellation, and who made their way to Clarecastle.
Let's turn out in force this week and give our support to Keith, Pa and the team.
