The Under 21 A hurlers bowed out of this years County Championship following a heart-breaking one point defeat to Sixmilebridge on Saturday. The Clooney lads led by two points at the break. The lead was pushed out to five as we headed into the final stages of the game, but Sixmilebridge finished stronger, building on a goal with five minutes remaining. With the sides level, the Clooney lads hit the upright, a goal here would surely have seen them through to the semi-final, but it was not to be, the Bridge hitting the winning score from a free in injury time. This group of lads have been the most successful group the Club has ever seen, winning three County "A" titles and having remained unbeaten in knock-out Championship hurling since 2002, a record to be proud of. Well done to the Panel and Mentors.
