The Clubs Under 12 Footballers failed in their bid to reach the County Final......
The under 12 boys bowed out of the under 12 football championship on Wednesday evening when they lost the Div. 2 semi-final to Kilmurry Ibrickane.
Playing without the injured Paul Leamy, the boys had also to start without late flu victims Alex Maguire and David O'Brien.
However despite these setbacks, the lads battled very bravely and played some lovely football in the first half and went in at half time leading on the scoreline of 2 goals to 4 points.
The turning point came about five minutes into the second half, when Kilmurry Ibrickane took a quick 13 metre and despite the brave efforts of our defence, the ball ended-up crossing the line for a goal.
Kilmurry Ibrickane then started to take control - as the heroic efforts of our much smaller boys against a physically stronger Kilmurry Ibrickane team began to tell - and ended-up winning on scoreline of 3 goals and 10 points to 2 goals.
Overall, this has been a very good football season for us as we finished-up about the eight best team in the county and had we had all our main 12 year old boys injury free for the full season, then we would certainly have been in the final shake-up.
Well done boys and well done to John Culligan, Peter Sheehy and coach Liam Conneally, who have patiently built-up the skill level, team work and commitment of this group of boys.
