It was a very proud captain, Marie Begley that lifted the Bob Flanagan Cup on Sunday after a thrilling match against Kilrush.
The scoreline of 1-15 to 4-5 indicates both the narrowness of the victory and tempo of the game with some excellent moves and scores by both sides. Kilrush settled early and has Clooney Quin under severe pressure. This pressure resulted in 2 early goals for Kilrush. Clooney Quin got to the pace of the game and with some excellent scores from play and frees.
Clooney Quin increased their work rate in the scond half and racked up a number of scores, the vital goal coming exactly at the right time. At this stage, Clooney Quin were on top but Kilrush came storming back with two late goals, but as before the girls kept their cool and after working the ball up field, veteran forward Gemma Hasset kicked the winning point.
