Clooney Quin Ladies Footballers capped off a great season for the club when they retained the Ladies Minor Football championship on a cold and wet day in Eire Og grounds.....
On Sunday Clooney Quin took to the rain sodden pitch against their great rivals Fergus Rovers. These two teams have met in a number of previous finals as the teams progressed through the under age grades. The Lissycasey club was highly fancied to win this game as they had a number of county players and had targeted this game thoughout the season to add to their list of trophies. However, the Clooney Quin girls has done their homework and under the guidance of Johnny O'Brien, they played their best football of the season.
From the throw in the Clooney Quin Girls was on top with some great attacking and defending moments. Such was their display they kept Fergus Rovers scoreless in the first half while racking up an impressive 2-3.
In the second half scores for both sides were hard to come by, Fergus Rovers upped their game but Clooney Quin defended superbly. In the end the final scoreline was 2-6 to 0-2 and as the rain fell, captain Kelly McLean was presented the winning cup amid the cheers of her team and supporters.
