Clooney Quin U14 ladies fooballers just edged out Wolfe Tones by a single point to capture the U14 Shield final......
With a scoreline of 2-5 to 2-4, the match was a nail biting thriller. Wolfe Tones, who had beaten this team in two previous finals, raced into a 1-1 lead but Clooney Quin got on the score board to level the scores by midway through the half. At halftime, Wolfe Tones had regained the lead on a 2-2 to 1-1 scoreline.
In the second half the Clooney Quin girls upped their game and were rewarded with a second goal and point. With the team levels, Clooney Quin showed their mettle and edged in front by 3 points. In the closing quarter, Wolfe Tones chipped away at the lead but the girls held out to win a great victory by a single point.
