Clooney Quin U16 Girls drew with West Clare Gaels in a tough and difficult game this evening. Having victories over Miltown and Shannon Gaels, Clooney Quin made the long journey to play West Clare Gaels in Doonaha this evening. This game was a typical example of the old cliche "a game of 2 halves". West Clare Gaels playing with the hill and wind raced into a commanding 1-4 to 0-1 pt lead. Clooney Quin point coming form a fine free by Emma Sheedy.
In the second half, Clooney Quin used the wind to their advantage and with scores from Siobhan McCarthy, Ashling Corbert and Emma Sheehy they soon close the gap to a single point. West Clare Gaels used the home advatage to full effect and struck for a goal and point against the run of play. But following a great run by Ashling Corbert who finished it off with a goal, the lead swung back to Clooney Quin.
However, as the game entered the closing stages, West Clare Gaels struck for a killer goal which left the game level. Overall this was probably the fiarest result on the night. Clooney Quin next game is against Lisconnor.
