It is often said that a "Tús maith, leath na hoibre"  - A good start is half the work. Well both the Senior and Intermediate hurlers commenced their Championship campaigns in impressive fashion, notching up wins over Broadford and Feakle respectively.
In Cusack Park  on Saturday, the Seniors began the game against Broadford with a nervy first half, not an un-typical way to start a Championship first round. They held a 0-10 to 1-4  lead at the mid-way point, but turned in an impressive second half against the slight breeze and ran out winners on a 1-17 to 1-8 scoreline.
The Intermediates, 24 hours later, showed little nerves against Feakle and hit the ground at speed, securing a 1-21 to 0-7 victory in Sundays game which was played in Tulla.
