Well?....(in my best Clare speak)
The ball is beginning to hop again...Tom Humphries mentioned the effect a Thurles throw in has on him each summer. Cue - hair standing on the back of my head and out of hibernation....There is much much more than KK to this championship isn't there?
Limerick and Waterford.....Have to start with the managers here. Justin will bring to Limerick what he brought to Waterford. Pure hurling.
Waterford - What an impossible bunch to predict. Mullane and McGrath are still in the top 15 in the country during summer hurling. However, still no goalie, still no consistency, still expecting it to fall into their laps. Davie will have them mad for it, but thats not good enough Waterford.
Limerick to prevail, but only just.Clare.Hmmm. Turn of the heart here. A win is almost impossible....
Lets assume its v's Tipp on the back of a win over Cork, new guys have a game under the belt, tails up etc.....Juggernaut on the way.
Clare resistance?
Can anyone tell what team we will play?.....and its not due to an over abundance of talented players is it?
There are 3 possibilities for goalie, fullback, centre forward and full forward alone. On the positive side Bugler has arrived. On the day of Semplegate V Cork 2 years ago he was a rabbit in headlights, but not since. He is the nucleus of the resistance but some new leaders will have to appear rapidly!
Of Carmody, Gilly, Griffin and Markham I hope at least 2 of them play. They still command respect from our rivals and the young bloods will need that next to them.
Miracles aside, its a Tipp V Limerick final and Tipp will take that one if they don't believe too much of their own BS....Galway. Still as limited as last year. Not hurling fast enough (4 out of 5 teams in every championship grouping qualify for the knockouts stages) No spine to the team just yet apart from Joe Canning. 3 and 11 can't be named in May, and Dr. Lee took the winter off. Kilkenny to waltz through Leinster.
Then, its a question of how many lives do KK have? There will be 2 knock out games for them in August and September. Only Tipp are equipped to beat them, and that would have to be a semi final, which is unlikely. Kilkenny are the only ones who can beat Kilkenny at the moment. If Cody is kidnapped and Henry is picked for the Lions together with Cha and Richie and Tommy they might be beaten, and then pigs will fly etc.So, bets this year lads are without Kilkenny.
Stick it on early rounds and land them on Limerick to prevail V Waterford
Tipp, to beat Cork
…....and if I catch anyone from Clare betting against Clare!
Footnote – is there anyone else with a green and red jersey really believing in their ability to play for the county? What are you waiting for? Open up and really go for it this weekend.
