In 1978, Quin captured the County Junior "B" hurling Championship following their win in the Final over neighbours, O'Callaghans Mills.

The Quin team included a number of players that were members of the Clooney side that contested the Intermediate Final in 1985 and that won the Title in 1986. These include the Colleran brothers, Jarlath, Noel and Ray, along with Pat Ryan. Martin Chambers and Pat McGrath, along with Pat Ryan were members of the Clooney Junior "B" side that defeated Broadford in the Final ten years later, in 1988. Jarlath Colleran was elected Clooney Club Secretary in 1984. The O'Callaghans Mills side contained a number of players that were well known in GAA circles. Robert Frost went on to become County Chairman during Clares Golden Era fo the '90's. Joe Cooney, Michael O'Neill and Jim Lynch are still well-known in GAA circles to this day. In the Final, Jimmy Maher, who went on to become a Hurilng Referee for Clooney, was deadly from placed balls, slotting five points which set the Quin outfit on the way to a narrow victory over The Mills.
