On May 9th Clooney Quin GAA club hosted a very successful race night fundraiser for the club....................
The event consisted of a Ten-race card, with the final race reserved for the very popular Auction race.
MC and General Guru of all things Race Night, Paul O'Neill kept things moving along with great efficency. The money rolled in and out of the Tote all evening, providing extra finance for the Clubs ambitious Development Plans.
By the time the Auction Race came around, there were a number of Syndicates "Jockying" for position to purchase the best-looking horse in the Final race.
Auctioneer for the evening was the bould Noel Harrisson, who brought a very unique but effective style to Auctioneering. His astute use of the crop seemed to loosen a few more euro out of pockets and wallets form an un-suspecting audience.
The term "Fill the Gap" will be discussed for many months to come.
The race itself was a very exciting affair, with the eventual victory going to local Jockey, Brian Hassett. Sonny Scanlan also got into the Winners Enclosure!
The Club would like to thank most sinceerly those who bought horses, took Ad's in the Race Card, sponsored races and provided Spot Prizes for the event. The finance raised will help with the continued development of playing facilities in the Club.
Míle Buíochas!
