There are those people who, for one reason or another, just cannot pass up a challenge, no matter how daunting it may seem. They are drawn to it, like bears to honey!
And so it was, when Powerade sought applicants from all over the Island to take part in their "Never Give Up Alpine Marathon Challenge 2009", our own Trevor Lee was one of more that 1,000 applicants who threw his hat into the ring...........

And then he waited. Soon after, he was called for an Interview.
Obviously, he impressed the panel of Judges sufficently as he was added to a short-list of 40 from which the final three would emerge.
Another wait and see period ensued, with all sorts of fitness tests and assessments to be endured by our Trevor.
Finally, on Friday last, word came through that Trevor was selected as the Munster/Connacht representative who will compete in the Alpine Marathon on July 26th. "Yahoo!", said Trevor. But then the thought suddenly struck him. "What have I done?"
Well, once he had regained control of his emotions, he soon began putting his training schedules into place.
With support coming from no less a source than Munster captain and Irish International Paul O'Connell, Tyrones Double All-Ireland winning  Manager Mickie Harte, Irish Olympic and Cross-country Legend Catherina McKiernan, and mountain runner Hannah Shields, who was the first woman from Northern Ireland ever to climb Mount Everest, Trevor won't be lacking in expertise.
He has to follow a gruelling training schedule over the next few months, leading up to the event in July.
No doubt all in the GAA Club send congratulations and best wishes to Trevor as he tackles those tortorious mountains in Switzerland in July!
