Clare Schools Football Title for Quin N.S.
Scoil na Mainistreach in Quin claimed the Clare Schools Division 4 Football Crown in dramatic circumstances in Cusack park onThursday last when they defeated Doora N.S.on a 3-8 to 2-9 scoreline.
The Quin boys entered this Final as underdogs, with their Doora oponents having defeated Quin in the group stages and had impressed on their way to the Final, accounting for Clooney/Dangan in the semi-final.
Undaunted, the Quin boys gave as good as they got and were in contention throughout the game. However, as the game entered injury time, the Doora boys held a three point lead. The Quin lads dug deep and hit a dramatic equalising goal to send the game to Extra Time where they really turned on the style and were worthy winners at the final whistle. Queue a stampede of Quin mentors, subs and supporters who rushed onto the pitch to acclaim their Heroes.
