It is said that "Whats seldom is Wonderful", and so it is.....
Not many Munster Championship medals have come to Clooney/Quin GAA Club over the years, so when such a scarce item does, it is truly worth celebrating. But when five Munster Hurling Championship medals are won, then indeed its cause for great celebration. That such a haul comes in a four day period, the achievement becomes even a more unique occasion indeed.
Peter Duggan, Keith Hogan and Dave Barry, on Sunday last joined Pat
Markham in an elite group of Clooney-Quin players to have won a
Munster Minor Hurling Championship Medal following Clares victory over
Waterford. This is the first time Clare have captured back-to-back
Provincial hurling titles which makes the achievement so unique. Peter
lined out at wing forward and turned in a superb hours hurling for the
team, notching a fine point in the first half along with having a
major influence on the game in winning possession several times as
Waterford rallied late-on. Our three players now look forward to an
All-Ireland semi-final which will be played in Croke Park on August
7th or 14th next. Congratulations to all involved with this
magnificent victory for The Banner county.
