Clooney-Quin 6-05 v 6-03 Kilmaley

Clooney-Quin just held out in a lively affair against Kilmaley in Kilmaley on Wednesday evening.  In this game the lead changed hands on a number of occasions as both sides battled the windy conditions. Clooney-Quin were first of the mark when Emma Considine got the first point but the home side bounced back with Caoimhe Cahill doubled on a bouncing ball from a free in front of the Clooney goal. Emma Considine cut the difference to a point with a converted free before Lauren Wall cut through the Kilmaley defense before rattling the net to put Clooney-Quin ahead. Grace Carmody then goaled for Kilmaley and Cahill pointed.  Emma Considine pointed again for Clooney-Quin to keep in touch while playing against the wind. Kilmaley got their third goal of the half just before the break to give them a 3-01 to 1-3 lead at the break.

Clooney Quin attached straight from the throw in and Niamh McGee goaled with a handpassed shot to the net.  This was quickly cancelled out though and the game moved quickly up and down the field.  Clooney Quin eventually broke down the Kilmaley defense with a Niamh McGee goal and Considine point that had the sides level.  These scores were followed by goals from Emily Costello, Niamh McGee and Holly Deegan, and a second Considine point.  Kilmaley also had a goal of their own during this spell. Clooney Quin were now 6-05 to 5-02 ahead.  Kilmaley never gave up though and while Clooney defended strongly Kilmaley did break that defense getting two points and in the last minute of the game a goal.  This had the game finish with just two between the teams in what was a very exciting game.
