Look at this treasure uncovered in Quin. This is the 1942 Senior Hurling Championship medal won by John O’Halloran (father Kay O’Shaughnessy(nee O’Halloran) ) who was one of six O’Halloran borthers who played for Clooney.
Now in 2017, 75 years on, a new Clooney Quin Senior hurling team endeavour to get their hands on one of these precious Senior Championship medals just like the men of 1942.
The parish is gradually turning green and red for the big occasion on Sunday with banners and flags on every corner. The schools of Clooney and Quin are nearly at fever pitch in anticipation of the game and even Quin Abbey has changed colour by night in support of our wonderful hurling team.
See you all in Cusack Park at 3:30pm on Sunday October 15th.
