Ten teams played in the Michael Cullinan tournament on Saturday last in Clarecastle including teams from Galway, Limerick, Tipperary and Clare. Three Clooney girls, Anna Doyle, Lucy Cassidy and Holly Deegan, played on the Clare teams. The girls played in four round matches and both Clare teams reached finals – Lucy and Holly played in the plate final against Limerick and after taking an early led unfortunately were beaten by a late Limerick goal; Clare 2-1; Limerick 1-6.  Anna was on the Clare team who played Galway in the cup final and unfortunately they too lost on a scoreline of Clare 1-3; Galway 2-1. The tournament saw the end of six months training and preparation for the girls. With the weather unusually pleasant, dry and warm, a great day was had by all.
