For the second year running the mentors of the Clooney Quin U10 organised a blitz inviting teams from Cork, Galway, Tipperary and Clare to Clooney for our U10 Annual Blitz. Grenagh came from Cork, JK Brackens from Tipperary, Turloughmore from Galway and near neighbours Tulla from Clare joined our hurlers on Saturday morning for 4, 15 minutes a side games with 11 a-side teams. The philosophy behind this blitz was to compete in each game and not to concentrate on winning and to have every player playing and enjoying themselves playing the game of hurling.
Everyone assembled at 10:50am to go through the format of the games and the rules and the games got underway at 11am.
This was a most enjoyable morning as the sun stayed shining to the end as the ice cream van/man made their way onto the field to surprise the players with a nice cool cone after their morning exertions. Armed with their cone each child also received a medal as a token for their hard work and effort. Not only were the children well looked after but the parents and mentors were allowed to indulge on the large array of buns and sandwiches, teas and coffees all offered and catered for but out U10’s parents.
A huge thank you goes to Kevin, Fergal, Mike, James, John ,Timmy and Linda for preparing everything for the day and to the parents for supplying the food and drinks and catering. Thanks to Brian for the ice creams , these went down a treat. Finally, we would not have days like these in the club without our wonderful U10 hurlers.
