Sunday 25th June 2017, Clooney-Quin Under 10 Ladies Football team made their way to Corofin for their second blitz of the year. Clooney were joined by teams from Newmarket on Fergus, Miltown and the hosts, Corofin.
Clooney played their first game against our near neighbours Newmarket and after a sluggish start Clooney sprung to life in the second half and as they warmed into the game they demonstrated the talent which these young starlets have in abundance.
Our second game was against the hosts and again after a slow start the Clooney girls took hold of the challenge and fought back with great aplomb.
Miltown were the opposition in the third and final match of the day and two evenly matched teams took to the pitch. Clooney took some lovely scores and showed off their passing and kicking skills which they had been practising hard at training on Sunday Mornings at 9 am.
There is no doubt that the more games that these Clooney girls play is a massive benefit to them and hopefully over the next number of weeks we will see them play a few more games and improve even further.
One dark cloud on the day was the injury to one of Clooney’s rising stars, Ava Leamy, in the final match. We all wish her a speedy recovery from her injury and hope that she will be back soon doing what she does best, scoring goals and points with a smile!
Our thanks to Corofin Ladies GFC for hosting such a well organised blitz.
