The life of a duel player can be a difficult and demanding one be it at club or county level but not usually  as hard as that faced by the ladies of Clooney/Quin Camogie & Ladies Football Club when 21 of them faced the prospect of playing two matches in two Counties in six hours last Saturday.

The senior Camogie team played county champions, Newmarket on Fergus in the senior championship in Clarecastle at 11 o’clock and the junior A footballers, who won the County Junior A Championship last month , faced Dromcollogher/Broadford in the quarter final of the Munster championship at 5.15 in Kildimo, Co. Limerick.  Both reaching the County semi-final and representing Clare in Munster are proud achievements for all involved in Clooney/Quin  so therefore when this clash first came to light it was a case of dealing with the hand that was dealt to the Club as Camogie and Ladies Football are two separate Associations at National level.

10 girls played the entire 130 minutes of both matches and while defeated in both the Club are extremely proud of the effort and commitment shown by these girls who represented their club and parish so well and tried so hard to achieve success in what was an unprecedented ask for the Club.   While success was not theirs last Saturday showed the character of these girls, and their loyalty and commitment to their club and sports can never be questioned.
