Minor B Final was played Sunday last between Clooney/Quin and Cooraclare in Kilrush is very poor conditions. Heavy rain recently meant wet underfoot conditions and low temperatures added to the difficulty.

However a great game of Football ensued. Cooraclare were first into the lead and looked to have the upper hand. The early substitution of Aoife Floyd due to injury, meant some restructuring and appeared to slightly unsettle the team. The ever adaptable Ciara Grogan went fromĀ  centre forward to wing back, with Niamh McGee moving to corner back for the injured Floyd. Emma Considine came on as full forward to fill the vacant forward position, with Emma Deegan moving to centre forward. A great point from Ellie Rochford opened the scoring for Clooney. Ellie was taken down on the edge of the box a few minutes later and Emma Deegan scored the resulting penalty. Deegan scored a point before half time to leave it Cooraclare 1-5; Clooney/Quin 1-2 at half time.

Cooraclare went further into the lead in the second half, when Clooney failed to score for nearly twenty minutes. Clooney’s defensive performance forced numerous wides by Cooraclare. Emma scored one goal and was unlucky not to score another in the final minutes but the ball hit the crossbar and went over for a point. Final score Cooraclare 2-10; Clooney/Quin 2-4.
