Clooney Quin Minors contested the U18C Championship Semi Final against Parteen/Meelick on Saturday last (Sept 29th) in Bodyke.
On a perfect morning for hurling Clooney Quin started well and after points from Darragh Keogh, Oisin Egan, Adam Deegan and Dylan Cunningham, Ulick O’Sullivan goaled to put the young men in green and red 1-4 to 0-1 up after about 10 min. It looked like it would be plain sailing  from there but Parteen/Meelick hadn’t had their say yet. A collection of three goals in the space of 10 minutes brought them right back into contention and pushed them briefly into the lead. The Clooney boys responded well, however, and took control for the rest of the half, scoring freely to leave the half time score 3-13 to 3-4.
The second half proved to be a scrappy affair with scores hard to come by. Parteen/Meelick pressed hard throughout and forced a number of saves from Cormac O’Halloran. There were a few anxious moments for Clooney Quin when Parteen/Meelick eventually broke the Clooney Quin resistance for two goals to narrow the gap to 3 but again the Clooney Quin boys rallied well to finish strongly scoring the last goal of the game.
Clooney Quin will face Feakle/Kilanena in the decider.
