On Saturday last Clooney/Quin played Eire Og in Round 2 of the senior Camogie Championship on what was a must win game for both teams.

Clooney has the brighter start on home ground following a coin toss for home advantage when Fr McNamara Park was declared unplayable.

Orlaith Duggan was first on the score board with a long range point, followed by points from centre forward Mairead Ryan and full forward Sarah Costello, and another from Ryan before Eire Og opened their tally. They scored four successive points, two from frees taken by Grainne Nolan and two Orla Devitt points to level the match at about twenty mins in. The next score, a goal, came from the Hurley of Sarah Costello, to be answered by a point and goal from Eire Og, to put the visitors ahead for the first time in the match. Just before half time, Aoibheann Duggan scored a point to level the game going into half time,  1-5 a piece.

In the second half, while Eire Og were first to score, Clooney got into the game and clocked up five unanswered points to have them four points clear half way through the score half, 1-10 to 1-06. Two points in succession cut the Eire Og deficit to two.  Clooney continued to fight and threw over two more points before Eire Og had their final score of the evening while Clooney put further distance between the teams.
