The Clooney Quin senior hurlers played in a historic battle against the hotly tipped favorites Sixmilebridge in the Senior Hurling County Final in Cusack Park last Sunday and unfortunately there was no winner, as the end result was a draw. It was not until the thirtieth minute of normal time that Sixmilebridge  took the lead for the first time in the game. After all the heroics of the Clooney Quin side up to that moment, including a goal from Ronan O’Donnell,  it would have been cruel to see them leave with nothing. As the three minutes of extra time seemed to dwindle away, and supporters feared the worse. A high ball was dropped into the forwards and  was won by captain Fergal Lynch and resulted in a free effortlessly taken and converted by Peter Duggan. The final whistle was blown after and the Clooney Quin support could breath again and start planning for another day out.

The replay has now been set for Sunday October 22nd in Cusack Park at 3:30 when they will do it all over again. One thing that is certain and that is the whole parish will be behind this heroic team as they endeavour to get their hands on the Canon Hamilton cup next Sunday.
