U16B Quarter Final Truagh-Clonlara 5-08 v 5-09 Clooney-Quin
They young team from Clooney-Quin must have taken great inspiration from their senior hurlers to make it two wins over Clonlara from two during the weekend. In a nail biting game Clooney-Quin just held out to claim a place in the semi final of the u16.
With both sides playing great camogie the result was never sure for either side. And both were happy with a draw at the end of full time.
Eva larkin pointed to put the home side first on the board. Swiftly answered by a Roisin Keogh goal with Ciara Halpin and emma considine, with a free, adding points for the visitors before Considine added 1-1 from play. This looked to have settled the visitors having them 2-3 to a point up. Truagh continued  to work hard though and with a Becky Foley free followed up with a goal before Eva larkin pointed had the game back to a point. Clooney pushed on again with 2 Emma Considine points. However in a game that moved at a huge pace from end to end Truagh scored another goal from a long shot dropping in and deceiving the defence. From the puck out Roisin Keogh snatched on an Emer Moynihan pass and pointed from wing forward. With Eva Larkin pointing for the home side just before the break. Leaving a two point margin between the teams.
Becky Foley with a point shortly after the resumption was answered again by Roisin Keogh before a 45′ by Foley dropped to the Clooney net. This put the home side ahead for the first time. Emma considine held her nerve on two placed balls, one a free won by Moya Dunne and a ’45 forced by Roisin Corbett with Larkin pointing for Truagh and the game finishing level and extra time to come.
Clooney got the better start in extra time with Emma Considine registering a goal followed by a second for the visitors through Molly Slattery. Truagh didn’t give in though and got 1-1 on the scoreboard before the break. This however was answered when Roisin Corbett found the net. Giving the visitors a lead of 1-2. Truagh pushed hard on the resumption as both sides worked hard. They did manage a further 1-1 as the Clooney defence was worked hard. However Cliodhna Ryan, Sinead McGee, Ciara O’Connor and Caoimhe Leamy were outstanding. Ciara Halpin and Emily Costelloe put in a huge hour and twenty at mid field. Emer Moynihan, Moya Dunne and Roisin Keogh worked tirelessly throughout and Emma Considine was always a threat.
Best for Truagh were Sinead Ryan, Leah Hawes, Becky Foley, Eve McMahon and Molly Fennessey did well.
