U18 championship Round 1
Clooney Quin 3-08 v 4-06 Broadford

In a very tightly contested game Clooney Quin were unlucky to come just short at the final whistle.  In what was the first competitive game of the season there was a bright start which saw Clooney Quin get the first two scores of the game.  The girls had more possession than Broadrord in the first half and missed a few opportunities that would prove costly at the final whistle.  As Clooney Quin pushed forward they left themselves open at the back resulting in Broadford  getting two goals in the first half from play and one from a penalty.  The girls fought and the half time score was Clooney Quin 0-04 to Broadford 3-01.
The onslaught continued after the first 60 seconds of the restart when the visitors goaled again.  The fighting spirit in this group of girls shone through and they never panicked and played their way back into the game.  With goals coming from Ciara Grogan and Emma Deegan.  Jessica Leamy was on target as was Aoibheann Duggan and Sinead Considine. Broadford were finding it hard to match the work rate of the Clooney girls.

Clooney-Quin: Hannah Leonard, Michelle Meere, Ellen Liddy, Rachel Begg, Ciara Grogan, Siobhan Halpin, Siobhan Cunningham, Aoibheann Duggan, Emma Deegan, Sarah Costelloe, Orlaith Nash, Sinead Considine, Jessica Leamy, Maeve Clune

U18 Championship Round 2
Ruan/Burren 0-04 v 3-11 Clooney Quin

On Monday evening last the girls were out again against Ruan/Burren and put in a determined hours work to ensure that their involvement in the U18 championship continued.  They opened strongly in Ruan and had four fast points on the scoreboard from Jessica Leamy, Alice O’Donnell, Aoibheann Duggan and Sinead Considine.  The Clooney girls were on top in all positions and the spread of scorers made it difficult for Ruan to cope with as scores were coming from all angles.  Clooney Quins solid defense lines never looked in trouble throughout the first half.  There were further points from Sarah Costelloe and Jessica Leamy was scoring points from placed balls and Alice O’Donnell was on target for goal.  This broke the resolve of the Ruan girls and Clooney Quin went in 2-08 to no score at the break.
As a result of injuries to Orlaith Nash and Siobhan Halpin were substituted and Ciara Grogan was rested for the second half. This made for a tighter game.  The backs were given a bit more work to do and played well.  Maeve Clune goaled before being substituted. This was a good performance from the Clooney girls who will now meet either Truagh or Tulla/Bodyke in semi-final.
Clooney-Quin: Michelle Meere, Siobhan Halpin, Ellen Liddy, Eimear McGrath, Siobhan Cunningham, Rachel Begg, Ciara Grogan, Aoibhean Duggan, Sinead Considine, Orlaith Nash, Sarah Costelloe, Emma Deegan, Jessica Leamy, Maeve Clune, Alice O’Donnell Subs: Mary Conneally for Orlaith Nash(inj), Aisling McGrath for Siobhan Halpin(inj)

Clooney-Quin 2-15 v 1-00 Ballyea/Clarecastle
Clooney Quin put in a solid hours work on Wednesday evening to secure the points from their opening game of the championship.  The home side never looked in trouble.  They showed great team work and work rate throughout.
Emma Deegan who was in great form opened the scoring on the night with a fine point from play this was to be just the first of five excellent scores from Emma four of which were in the first half and were instrumental in Clooney-Quin building up a good lead. Aisling McGrath and Moya Dunne also pointed from play along with Sinead Considine who also had two from placed balls.  The Clooney-Quin half back line and mid field were dominant throughout, setting up attacks and worked hard not to let easy ball out of the amalgamation half.   This would turn out to be their only score of the game. Half time score Clooney-Quin 0-09 v 1-00 Ballyea/Clarecastle.
