Clooney-Quin/Banner 3-07 v 2-04 Broadford/Parteen

The two sides played an exciting and hard fought game in CLooney on Tuesday evening last.  Broadford having won the toss and deciding to play with the wind took longer to settle into the game.  Clooney/Banner were first on the score board with Derinn Finnerty pointing the way and the home sides continued to press forward after that. Emer Moynihan(2) and Sinead Considine adding to the score board. Indeed CLooney/Banner looked very pressing but for the work of Aoife Boland in the Broadford goal who pulled of a number of good saves in the first half. Then Ali Troy converted a long range free to get Broadford of the mark.  Moya Dunne answered for Clooney before Anna Lee Marsh had the opening goal of the game against the run of play.  Derinn Finnerty and Ali Troy then traded points before the break to leave the sides level at half time.

Sinead Considine and Ali Troy traded frees in the second half and in a tight half Clooney/Banners ability to pounce for goals proved more decisive.  Sinead Considine with two and Elena Sanz with the other were only met with Marsh’s second of the game. Sinead McGee, Sadbh Dunne, Emer Moynihan, Leah Talty, Sinead Considine, Derinn Finnerty, Dianna Carmody and Ciara Halpin played very well for the winners.  Ali Troy, Susan O’Shea, Aoife Boland did well for Broadford.
