Meelick was the venuue for the clash of Clooney Quin and Clarecastle in the U21B Hurling Championship quarter final. Despite the terrible weather conditions with driving wind and rain Clooney Quin had the upper hand in the first half with a goal from Eanna Barry after fifteen minutes helping them to a two point advantage at half time. As the rain stopped and the sun made a vague appearance it was Clarecastle that ceased the moment and put 1 – 6 on the scoreboard unanswered in the second half. Clooney Quin battled hard in the second half but found it difficult to make their shouts count and Clarecastle progressed to the semi final.
