ClooneyQuin U8 hurlers set out very early last Sunday for the long journey to Stillorgan, Co. Dublin for the Kilmacud Crokes U8 Festival of Hurling.
The Festival of Hurling was a Go Games style blitz featuring clubs from all around Ireland. ClooneyQuin was invited to represent Clare and we were delighted to make the trip.
ClooneyQuin provided 4 teams (of 10 players each) to play against teams from Kilmacud Crokes, JK Brackens (Templemore, Tipperary), Craughwell (Galway), Naas (Kildare), Clane (Kildare), Castletown Liam Mellows (Wexford) and Ruan Mhor (Waterford). Each team played 3 matches in the ‘group’ phase followed by a final. Our ClooneyQuin boys did us proud with their strong displays of hurling skills and sportsmanship.Kilmacud were excellent hosts providing lunch in between games.
On the way home the boys all enjoyed a travel break and meal in Moneygall. It was a long day out but the players, to a man, all agreed it was well worth the effort.
Well done to all the boys. Also well done to all the coaches and parents who travelled to help out and support the boys.
Finally, thank you to Vaughan Hannon Auctioneers, Clare Drains and ProAdjust for sponsoring our trip.
