The Clooney Quin under 14 hurlers clashed with a very determined Feakle Kilanena outfit yesterday evening in what was our second championship match so far. Having being soundly beaten by Feakle Kilanena in the Féile in recent weeks, there wasn’t much belief that Clooney Quin would prevail.
Feakle Kilanena opened up the scoring early on but were quickly over taken by a stream of 5 Clooney Quin, wind assisted points before Feakle Kilanena scored a goal to leave the narrowest of margins.
Hopes were high with a score of 1/2 tp 9 points going in at the break. The restart seen Feakle Kilanena, with the winds at their back, close the gap further before we settled with a badly needed point. A now very driven Feakle Kilanena put the pressure on for the remainder of the match, hitting the bar twice and having had two cracking shots saved by our keeper, Cormac O’Halloran. A resolute defence ensured however, that Clooney Quin would record our first championship win. Final score, 0/11 to 1/5.
